Smooth

I love smoothies.

Of all kinds. I usually have one every single day, they are quick and easy and since I’m pretty bad at eating fruit on the regular they solve that problem for me. This summer I started adding turmeric to my smoothies for all of it’s health benefits and some extra flavour when I was looking for natural ingredients to help heal my body.

For those that may not know, turmeric is a relative of ginger and a super healthy way to add flavour and colour to any recipe, and it’s active ingredient curcumin has been as effective as prescriptions drugs in some cases. Some of the benefits include being a powerful antioxidant, natural anti inflammatory compounds, and supports the growth of good bacteria in the gut (probiotics).

Studies done have shown that it can help with depression by increasing the level of neurotrophic factors responsible for growth and survival of nerve cells, and it modulates the level of neurotransmitters in the brain. That’s a lot of science-y words, but basically it has an effect on some of the physiological symptoms that are implicated in depression.

Yass! Healing our bodies and our minds one smoothie at a time.

Yes that's my cinnamon in a David's tea container. The ghetto life is the life for me.
